Meet Mohd Akashah: From Runner to Duathlete and Coach
Meet Mohd Akashah bin Mohd Izhar, an enthusiastic athlete and coach from Malaysia, currently residing in Kajang. From the age of 15, Akashah has been deeply involved in running, gradually expanding his interests to include duathlons. His journey as both an athlete and coach reflects not only his personal dedication but also his passion in assisting others in achieving their best in endurance sports.
Fuelling The Duathlon Passion
What began as a hobby for Akashah as a teenager soon evolved into a lifestyle. Running and cycling became more than just physical activities; they became vehicles for self-improvement and discovery. For Akashah, his sport serves as a catalyst for personal growth, shaping not only his physical prowess but also his character and perseverance. In fact, one of his bucket list goals is to one day participate in a World Major Marathon.
Racing and Achievements
Over the years, Akashah has taken part in numerous races, primarily in the 10km running category. However, his most notable accomplishment occurred in 2019 when he competed for SEA Games duathlon qualification alongside Malaysia's top athletes. This experience not only validated his dedication and skill but also ignited his determination to excel further in the realm of endurance sports. Looking ahead, Akashah is focused on his next challenge, with the goal of always aiming to surpass his previous accomplishments.
Duathlon Triumphs and Challenges
Like any athlete, Akashah has encountered various challenges throughout his training journey. Maintaining discipline and consistency has been crucial, necessitating sacrifices of time and effort to remain steadfast in pursuit of his goals. Through his sheer determination and unwavering commitment, he has always found a way to overcome these obstacles, emerging stronger and more resilient with each setback.
Training and Coaching with Purpose
Motivated by his desire to assist others in reaching their full potential, Akashah works closely with Purpose as a coach at our training clinics. Through this platform, he aims to inspire and guide fellow athletes in their pursuit of excellence. His advice to newcomers in endurance sports is simple yet profound: “start slowly, be patient, and never underestimate the power of gradual progress,” said Mohd Akashah.
