PURPOSE @Ironman Malaysia 2019
Ironman Malaysia has always been a big event for us and this year is no different. From just a simple appreciation dinner in 2017 to a breakfast run with 100 runners last year, we had our biggest outing in Langkawi this year.
For the first time, we had a booth at the race expo at the Mahsuri Exhibition Centre, where we sold a range of our popular trisuits and also launched our all-new cycling caps and caps. Thank you for visiting us!
On Friday morning, the day before the race, we had an easy 3km warm-up run led by Malaysian SEA Games athlete Ziq Junaidy and some of our Indonesian ambassadors like Eva Desiana and Dedy. The best part of the run was having a sumptuous breakfast spread at Huggin’ Hippo waiting for us.
In the days leading up to the race, it was raining every day in Langkawi and we were hoping that we would get cooler weather on race day. That was not to happen unfortunately and it was a clear, cloud-less Saturday as we got exposed to the hottest (and most humid) elements of Langkawi.
Those who wore our kits, we hoped we kept you cooler than the others with our innovative mesh technology. Our bossman Noor himself overcame the harsh conditions and completed the Ironman 70.3, as did Veronica Yanti, one of our Indonesian ambassadors.
Our Singapore ambassador Ng Wei Quan blazed the competition in his 18-24 age group to take the win, even after a little mishap at T1 when his bike bag was missing from the hook.
Indonesian Purpose ambassador Eva dominated her 30-34 age group too. Both of them, as a result, have also qualified for the Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Taupo, New Zealand, next November.
Over on the Ironman side, we had Dedy and Lucky from Indonesia and Nursya, our Malaysian darling. Nursya finished overall fastest Malaysian female – we are so proud of her!
P.S. Did you see Malaysian celebrity Alif Satar rocking his custom PURPOSE trisuit?
