Consistency Matters: Pankkaj's Triathlon Triumphs in 2023

We catch up with Dhiman Pankkaj, a seasoned Purpose triathlete, to find out the highs and lows of his 2023 race season. In this he reflects on his accomplishments, highlights, and the valuable lessons learned, while also outlining his goals and aspirations for the upcoming 2024 season.

Navigating the 2023 Triathlon Season

Pankkaj describes his overall 2023 experience as fantastic, successfully accomplishing his goal of participating in diverse and challenging races. He expresses pride in checking off this milestone and looks back on the season with a sense of accomplishment.

Two standout moments from the season include his impressive come-from-behind performance in Boulder 70.3, securing second place in his age group with a remarkable run, and his outstanding 1:19 run off the bike in Poland, overcoming tough conditions.

Despite the demanding schedule of hard training and frequent races, Pankkaj managed to achieve four podium finishes in challenging fields, marking these successes as the highlights of his season.

All the positives aside, like any other triathlete Pankkaj is not immune to challenges. For him the challenge lies in improving his swim and bike disciplines, which have added difficulty for him as he  transitioned from a bodybuilding background. Despite the challenge, he remains optimistic about the progress he is making and believes that his hard work will pay off in the future.

Looking ahead to the 2024 race season

Pankkaj emphasizes the importance of consistency, stating that it is the only thing that truly matters, especially over the long term. He plans to carry this lesson into the 2024 season, approaching each day with dedication and hard work.

He credits Purpose for bringing renewed purpose to his triathlon journey, citing the alignment of values and the brand's supportive role in his athletic endeavors. He expresses hope for the continued growth of their association.

Looking ahead, his primary focus for the upcoming season is to become a well-rounded triathlete, emphasizing a holistic approach to his training and racing.

Advice to Newbie Triathletes 

Pankkaj leaves a powerful message for his fans and followers:

Don't ever give up on your dreams. Work for it more than you wish for it. Stay consistent for a very long period of time", said Dhiman Pankkaj.
